1963 NASA Langley Research Center footage of re-entry vehicle testing. This particular model was equipped with a canted multiple air-bag load alleviating system to help absorb impact energy. These tests were carried out in the Impacting Structures Facility, later redesigned into the Vortex Research Facility.
