I don't seek public approval. I only want to educate people on my own history with firearms and the reasons I carry for defense of myself and my family.
Also, you must be smoking something if you don't think America is one of the safer countries in the world. As a tourist, I might only feel safer in Canada or Japan. When I was in The Netherlands, we had to wear anti-pickpocket satchels for our money and some other tourist got punched in the face for some unknown, random reason.
We call it 'murder.' The 'murder' rate would be lower if law-abiding citizens carried weapons because the 'murderer' will be dead. A 'murder' will not have occurred because the defender has not committed a murder. It wasn't planned and was without malice. They were defending themselves. Never forget Whitechapel. And don't kid yourself. Brits and Yanks are all the same in the eyes of the rest of the world.
And since you are having a hard time grasping the concept, I'll bring it down a notch for you. Homicide is the act of killing someone. So if I am defending myself with my bare hands because I am being attacked and I happen to kill the person, that is a homicide. If we each have a gun, then its all the same. The attacker will have a gun regardless of any law. So lets stop calling what we are discussing homicide.
I like how people generalize America like you can do that with 310 million people. If you had a country with one moron on it, it would be easy to generalize. So as it stands, England has 1/6th the population so don't tell me the weather doesn't suck and food is atrocious there. And considering the density, I'd put my money on America having way more safe places to scary places than England does.
@usf3983 *I stated my sources* albeit I understand that Wikipedia is not the most reliable of source: en.wikipedia(.)org/wiki/Gun_violence
I don't really understand your logic of: "if..people..had guns, ..rate would be lower" sorry bro :s
General homicide rates are ~1/3 in the UK compared to America. Rates with firearms are ~ 1/25. Not to mention so many less "accidents" and child deaths.
America is still sounds scary to me, lets not digress!
@ibesteadymobbin92 I'll just keep my vacations on this side of the pond to stay safe. My original comment was "American sounds scary"...It still does!
@Harrisam66 So I would imagine the murders are going to happen anyway and that if the people in those homicides had guns, that rate would be lower. Again you say a rate of 25 times higher rate of homicide using gun violence. Those criminals are breaking the law regardless of any gun laws. I bet the homicide by any other form is higher in the UK than in the US. I don't know what the figures are but your "facts" are specious.
@Harrisam66 You're just digging yourself deeper mate. I never understood owning a gun until it was brought to my attention that there isn't anything stopping criminals from owning guns. @ibesteadymobbin92 has already addressed it. So you say we have 3 times the murder as the UK?
How many crimes do you think would be committed in a country if every criminal knew that the majority of the citizens was packing heat?
