Well versed in Hindustani and Carnatic music, Bhanumathi Ramakrishna was not only a wonderful singer, but a multi-talented personality. A leading actress, a director, and a producer, she was one of the pioneers of Telugu movie industry. Here's her rendition of this popular Thyagaraja krithi from the 1964 Telugu movie Vivaha Bandham.

I am great fan of Bhanumathigaru. What a shame, what a pity that she finally did not get the Dadasaheb Phalke!. She deserved it at least 25 years before her death...And many of the Phalke winners do not deserve the award even half of as much as she did. Phalke award is poorer by not honoring. her with the award Not many know that she is the first one to produce a movie "Chandirani" a story of identical twins separated just afte birth long before any body attempted a in any language. @aramuskguy Exactly my thoughts. Bhanumathy was a one woman bundle of talents and creativity: Actor, singer, dancer and writer of serial fiction. And she produced movies as well. A great role model, not just for young women but for all young people.

Loved her fluid voice and singing style and her comedic flair in acting when she was given scope for it.
