I want to add that this is STILL state of the art, you boneheads!!!! It will be 30 more years before computers can hold more info than tape. Do you want to challenge this? I have proof.
Really? Mine makes a nasty clicking sound on the track if you try to punch in a correction while it's in play mode. None of my other decks have that problem.
Those relay systems facilitated 'drop-in' recording so that any musical fluffs could be repaired without having to record a whole track, or part, again. It could be remote controlled from the mixing console, very advanced for 1969 when this particular machine was built. Fascinating, thanks for posting it!
