i went to the bay using penny colored gulp shrimp by berkely and caught over 30 fish in one day!!! When i say fish i mean big fish like 22 inch halibut, 15 inch spotted bay bass, calico bass, and sandbass the same size. I also stumbled upon a black sea bass, otherwise known as a giant sea bass. So in my opinion berkely gulp alive shrim penny color or natural color is the best choice for the bay.

I am going fishing the weekend to san diego bay and was wondering what fly to use, how to fish it, what color patterns i should use, and where to fish. I am going on a kayak without a fish finder and i tied up some red shrimp patterns and some white ones and was wondering if those would work. If you can respond by tonight or early tomorrow that would be great. Thanks

@HunterFisher00, red or white shrimp pattern fly works well in the bay, any fly line with sinking rate of 2-6 ips should work. launch your kayak at Tideland park west end of Coronado bridge and work the boat anchorage area and the South side of the bridge.

are you using sinking or floating line?

@HunterFisher00 I use sinking line but I can't remember the feet per second. You can ask someone from the fly fishing outfitter they should be able to help you better than I could.
