Modesty is a New Testament commandment. A purified heart that loves a holy God will want to dress in a way that pleases Him! If we are serious about our relationship with Christ we will obey the command to dress modest and to pursue a holy life. 1 Timothy 2:8 "That women adorn themselves in modest apparel..."

Titus 2:12 "The grace of God teaches us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world."

Modesty & godly standards of dress are not legalistic. No! It's grace that inspires and instructs us to say "no" to immodesty and to immodest looking clothes, and "yes" to a life of godliness and righteous living.

I'll be embedding this on my blog. This is wonderful. When I got saved I was 25 and I wore what the culture wore. I look back at that time and I wish someone would of told me that my skirts were too short. I look back with embarrasement.

I went to WalMart about 3 weeks ago and looked all over for long skirts. I found none. Finally I asked 2 ladies in the dress department and they both said, to their chagrin, that they had no long skirts and that they were even surprised that they couldn't find any. Every shirt I find is extremely low and even longish skirts are just too tight. Unfrotunately, too many Christians just buy these clothes because they are on the rack, choosing to be conformed to the fashions of the world.

How tragic that modesty is so lacking in the church.There are few role models for modest,holy,godly living in the churches.They should teach sewing classes and mothers should teach their girls to make modest clothes and not follow the sinful culture and its fashions.Great comments.

I find it frustrating to go to church, cuz, even though I'm a girl, it still is offensive to see the amount of skin that some of these young girls and women show. Modesty has become a dirty word in our culture because it is equated with frumpiness and lookin like a pioneer. Unfortunatly, many in the church share this attitude. I like to dress nice and look cute, but, Godly deeds are indeed more important in the long run. The battle for modesty is a battle worth fighting.

You are so right. Character counts. Holiness counts on the inside and outside. But today we have artificial breasts, lips, hair, face lifts, nose jobs. tummy tucks, etc. Plus outlandish clothes. We have everything, but where is our godliness and modesty? We seem to worship our bodies instead of Jesus. Too much time spent on how we look. What part of us is real anymore? Where is our self respect? Do we want to look like Jesus in our character and actions?

Praise God for a vid on modesty. Our society has gone off the deep end making an idol out of women's bodies. Our body as a Christian is the temple of the Lord. Why do so many seem to think a woman has value if her breasts are the size of cow's udders? Consider virtue versus vulgarity. Any woman who will thrust her bosom out on national tv for the whole world to see is seriously deceived and so are those who want to see that.

I would also like to add the fact that makeup is also used in an indecent way nowadays. Tho many people may disagree, i believe makeup should only be used if there is a need to cover some injury, like a scar. By using makeup to enhance their looks, women only ruin the natural beauty that God gave them, and also poison their bodies with chemicals that some times even cause skin cancers. Thousands of animals are killed for the testing of cosmetic products. It's wrong, harmful and indecent.

A couple years ago, my older sister and I watched an episode of Jenny Jones, where they have girls that are in elementary school (between ages 7-11) that dressed like a miniature version of Britney Spears instead of their own ages. My sister told me that she hoped she would never catch her daughters (they were around that age when we saw it) dressing like that and thankfully, they have not. Also, I was at Kmart recently and saw this one top that is not appropriate for winter on sale there.

I am so glad about this video. This is compliant to my own point of view. Much more believers should watch that!!!I went to so many churches and there was only one single Pastor in Cuba who declared it while a sermon that in his church he doesn´t want to see women in miniskirt and spaghetti straps at the service. And this although he became less strict. In former times he didnt allow earrings and women had to wear long sleeves. He was the only bold man I ever saw.
