This is the third of my Mint-A-Thon series. I am going insane, and I am taking all of you with me! That's Right! We are going to have lots of fun with this operating system from installation to customisation! I will attempt to cover every important detail. I am going to break packages and rebuild them if necessary! So strap yourselves in, this is going to be one heck of a wild ride!

  • @DoDebian Please see my Top 5 distros for beginners... Pinguy 11.04 fits my computer like a glove... Enough said :)

  • I know I will be coming back to review this stuff again & again - I learned some things I didnt know before, unfortunately I'll forget before I get around to playing with Mint again. Again - awesome stuff and thanks for helping keep everyone afloat! Mucho El Apreciadio or something along those lines. Thats not exact Spanish - but close enuff :-)

  • @ImTheDaveman Mi espanol no esta bien.

  • You can make changes to the Shell take effect without log out/log in: call up the "Run" command by hitting ALT+F2 and type "r"; this will reload Gnome Shell. With luck ALT+F2 is enabled in Mint 12, by default it's turned off in Gnome 3, and Canonical didn't see fit to change that when they released Oneiric.

  • @restman79 Good one!

  • @LinuxSpatry Yeah I like them thar beans too. They make wunnerful froot. :-)

  • Another good vid! :D Instead of logging out and logging back in to see certain changes in gnome-shell you can simply restart the shell with alt+f2 then enter r in the input :) I'm not sure if you must enable alt+f2 shortuct in the keyboard options 1st or not in Mint :P

  • @fatriff Excellent news! I have not had a chance to look at any extensions...
