What a bunch of geeky virgin weirdos!

@crlody1 so you think those poor people killed themselves and then got on a space ship with their leader, the second coming of christ? because thats what they were told, so unless thats true they were lied to. im not trying to insult your friend, he isn't any more weak minded than most, christianity, islam, etc, is just one big cult which lies to their followers too. but those are main stream so they are left alone, but that doesn't make heavens gate any less of a cult.

@whitearab2 How is it a fact when it is clearly your OPINION? How do you know he was lied to? Once again, your OPINION. Just because many others share your opinion does not make it fact. He didn't think he was manipulated and lied to and you saying so is an INSULT to him and others. You're essentially saying he was too weak-minded to think for himself which is incredibly ignorant and condescending. Why are you going out of your way to tell everyone that he was manipulated?
-
@crlody1 it does not mean your friend was not manipulated. he was lied to, he believed the lies and behaved in a way that was desired. sorry "dude" thats the definition of manipulation. i don't care if every man, woman and child is also manipulated, it doesn't change the FACT that your friend was manipulated as well. call a spade a spade
-
@crlody1 i actually agree with you, people need to get off their "high horses" and realize they are no better, but just because the majority of people are manipulated, doesn't change that your friend was manipulated as well. he was told someone was essentially god who wasn't, he was told he could commit suicide and be issued a new body for space travel, which is at the very least doubtful. he was lied to and he bought it, just because the majority of our population is also manipulated

@whitearab2 cults while failing to see the trappings of the cultural and social norms which have "emotionally manipulated" them. Have you ever seen 80k people dressed in the same colors for a football game? How is that not cult-like? Or hundreds of thousands dressed in uniforms following orders to kill others because they have different colored skin or belong to a different nation (cult)?
-
@whitearab2 "Dude", these are not "facts" that you are stating but judgments. The word cult is related to the word culture, every culture is in "fact" a cult. Dominant cultures label things as cults when they conflict with the dominant culture. The human social norm is the largest cult there is but that doesn't mean it is more valid than any other "cult". These individuals were FAR from weak and emotionally manipulated. Many people seem to want to elevate themselves above those in

@crlody1 he knows they were "emotionally manipulated" because they were in a cult. he knows they were "weak" because the manipulation was successful and cults prey on emotionally vulnerable people. im sorry if you knew these people, they arent necessarily bad people. but dude, facts are facts, this guy was in a cult, and im assuming he committed suicide with the rest, so you tell me how he was not "emotionally manipulated:"
The man talking is clearly a homosexual struggling to come to terms with homosexuality. I think many of them struggled with it which is why they fell into the cult which rid them of their sexuality.
