This Jazz Meets Mozart hightlights video shows performances of the project in Perth, Australia as well as Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the UAE.
The initial staging of Jazz Meets Mozart brought the Australian Jazz Collective and the Mozart Festival String quartet together to perform fantastic reinterpretations of many of Mozarts most well known works. Pieces included; The 'Overture to the Marriage of Figaro', the aria e Susannah non vien, Symphony No. 40 (1st Mvt.), the Lacrimosa theme from The Requiem, The Oboe Concerto in C, and new work entitled Impressions of Amadeus.
Principal Arranger and Artistic Director, Michael Pignéguy also performed in the Australian Jazz Collective on drums and was joined by Jamie Oehlers (sax), Tom OHalloran (piano), Sam Anning (acoustic bass).
The UAE performances in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, saw Michael team up with UAE Philharmonic Conductor and Artistic Director, Philipp Maier, to present full orchestral versions of the works which were received with standing ovations by enthusiastic audiences.
Joining Michael in the role of arranging were Grant Windsor (Lacrimosa) and Michael Nelson (The Oboe Concerto in C).
The project also exists in an unperformed 3rd version which would feature String Orchestra plus the Australian Jazz Collective.
