SINOPSE: Nas ruínas de um lugar antes conhecido como América do Norte, está a nação de Panem, uma exuberante Capital rodeada de outros doze distritos. A Capital é dura e cruel, e mantém os distritos obedientes forçando-os a mandar um garoto e uma garota entre doze e dezoito anos para participar de seus Jogos Vorazes anuais, uma luta até a morte exibida na TV.

Katniss Everdeen (Jen Lawrence), de dezesseis anos, vive sozinha com sua mãe e sua irmã mais nova, e vê os Jogos como sua sentença de morte quando ela se oferece para ir no lugar de sua irmã. Mas Katniss já estivera perto da morte antes--e sobreviver, para ela, é instintivo. Sem querer, ela se torna uma das favoritas a vencer. Mas se ela quiser ganhar, terá de fazer escolhas que colocam sobrevivência contra humanidade e vida contra amor.
