Another collage of segments that were shot during the G Scale National Convention this past April. We have a 5 unit lasp-up of GP-7 pulling a long freight, an Amtrak train, a 4 unit set of F3's pulling 18 streamline cars, and a few other surprises. I hope you enjoy this!

  • I've been watching all thePalo Verde and Southwest videos and needless to say, I am blown away. I was speechless when I saw the railyard. I really want to start a G scale collection, but for now will have to admire your work

  • @swoletrain44

Thanks so much for your kind remarks! If you ever want to start a layout, let me know and I will see what I can do to help you.

  • Hey, You do own Black Widow F7s Right, You could do the San Joaqin Daylight.

  • HunterR909,

Nope, I do not have any F7's. I only have F3's and E8's. An F7 would have to be custom made because no one ever made one in G scale.

    Dennis

  • @dennissirrine Well Dennis even your Black Widow F3s would look good, if they were in like A-A-B-B-B.

Oh yeah, I just finished another 3/4 Length Dome Lounge in HO, Daylight paint scheme, My next project is to make one more in Union Pacific Paint Scheme, For the Espee part of the San Francisco Overland.

Someday I'll tackle the challenge of making a 3/4 Dome Lounge in G Scale.

  • HunterR909,

If you tackle a Dome Lounge in G scale, please let me know. I would love to see it, maybe even purchase it from you.

  • Dennis, Southern Pacific only had one, maybe two Cotton Belt F7As In Daylight scheme, Wheras they usually ran like E7 A+B+B or E8/9A+E7B+B or Alco PA1 or2 A-B-A or A-B-B, I wish I could afford to buy a couple of the G Scale Coach and Full Dome car, I think I could come up with a 3/4 Length Dome Lounge., Hey I've done it in HO Scale.

  • 437kenworth,

The entire layout has a double track mainline, except around the 360 loop, which is single track. When we run up to 2 trains, there is no problem, because they run independant of each other. But when we run 3 or more trains, we have to use a dispatcher, and he controls the movement of all the trains around the layout, just like a real railroad does it. The engineers and dispatcher all have walkie talkies so they can communicate with each other.

  • Dennis,

I was wondering on your 360 degree loop when the track goes into a single track how do you coordinate trains going in opposite directions from hitting each other? Do you have to sit there all day and control the trains?

I wish that I could see your layout in person because it is a very nice layout but I am on the other side of the country unfortunately.

    Thanks

  • Dennis, Do you own a RR train store? because you have lots of trains and a wonderful garden. I wish i can have something like this. How long did it take you to do your garden? How much is all this worth including your trains?
