@SvitjodsWarrior Well vikings still carried swords because they were good secondary weapons. An axe usually had a wooden handle and it was possible for them to break so they keept a sword incase that ever happend, and if they made the axe handle out of metal then the cost would similar to some swords.

Didn't they use that adze in the weird weapons of the middle ages episode and try to pass it off as some type of war hammer?
-
uhhh the Vikings never carry shields strap on unless they were using heater shields

That screaming and running one was stupid... he didn't hit him because he didn't want to hurt him. If that was a battle the spear would just fucking skewer that guy straight in the abdomen. You can't run onto a spear lol...

yeah hes a great actor, I can imagine one is terrified by a choppy chop chopper who is screaming the shit out of his lungs. imagine a two handed axe wielding berserker- I think he can demoralize a shieldwall, especially if its a fyrd.
-
ok these vikings should have fought against the saxon shieldwall- wouldve worked out differently!

You can try "Warriors" but I don't know about the information given by that show either.

"Conquest" and Peter Woodward are been savaged on the Internet for blatant inaccuracy and Hollywood-ishness. The tuth is, Woodward has no martial training at all, he has no knowledge of history - he's only an actor! And that's what he does, some kind of "medieval cosplay" we usually see in movies. Most bad thing is he supports many myths by his ignorance.

I really don't care if they only have 30 mins; get it right or don't do it at all. No point in doing something half-assed.
And the first thing they said about the weapons was wrong: Weapon of choice for the Vikings was a spear, or if they were all fancy, swords.
Watching shows like this is painful to me. The amount of misinformation is just staggering for a channel that claims to be about history. One of those guys even had a double bitted axe. If you are using cheap poorly made over built axes of course they're going to handle poorly.

@MsDjessa Bullshit, The axe was the favorite, The Sword was merly a Status symbol, It was a more decorative item and most of the Swords that was made was for cheiftains and kings, An expensive weapon, But even kings were seen preferbly using the axe.
