Settlers in Gaza are turning on those who accept government compensation and volunteer to move. They're determined to sabotage Sharon's disengagement plan.

"If sick soldiers use weapons to uproot civilians, we are going to receive them with weapons," vows Rabbi Yasef Dayan. He claims that if Sharon goes ahead with the Gaza withdrawal, he will be assassinated like Yitzhak Rabin. In the settlement of Gush Katif, the mood is virulently anti-Sharon. Only one resident, Meir Rottenstein, openly supports the planned withdrawal. "As far as we're concerned, that man is an outcast," states his neighbour. Rottenstein's shop has been vandalised and his business boycotted. The Israeli peace group, Shuvi, claims other residents want to leave but are too afraid to speak out. "They're afraid of losing their jobs, that neighbours will stop speaking to them and their children will be beaten up at school."

  • " we r not a sack of potatoes, we cannot just be moved... our work is here and so are our children... both have to be taken into consideration."

now u know what it feels like for the palestinians...

  • My nation, the United States of America, should begin trimming our aid to Israel. Not stopping it, but we should gradually shrink it and keep shrinking it so long as Israel permits these damned settlements, that even many Israelis oppose.

I hate Israel - I wish it would go away

  • our fucking taxes at work ....

  • You find one Jew willing to do the right thing and he's an outcast in his own community. Hmm...I wonder what their god thinks about that.

  • @00madworld00 The only difference is, Israel never expelled the Palestinians when it took over the West Bank and Gaza.

  • This is typical of many Israeli and pro-Israeli supporters ... Example the man with the greenhouses. Will you hear him say on camera he is offered generous compensation for relocation but will to lose 30% of it if he fights eviction? No ... He says he is being evicted with NOTHING. Lies ... Lies ... Lies ...

  • After the settlements in Gaza have been dismantled, all you hear jews talking about now on forums is .... "You see what the Palestinians have done with all that was restituted to them? They destroyed it ... BIG DEAL It's not your property anymore. Why should any new owner ask you permission to do anything with what is now his own?

  • They deny they live on Palestinian land and deny their presence in the region is an impedement for peace ... Any way conclusion besides they are both, blind and horribly stubborn? The only way maybe they could comprehend is if Palestinans would settle in Israel in the same way. And even so, I am not sure they would even associate this as being same as their behavior.
