One of the funniest programmes ever. Remember it was made around 22 years ago and still as funny today as it was back then. Part one (of four) from Mel Smith and Griff Rhys Jones about a family getting ready for Christmas - although with this family be prepared to meet the first Chav family on TV .Only ever shown ONCE on British TV - all set in the days before Mobile Phones, internet and iPods etc.
and when the days of owning a new camcorder meant it had to go on your shoullder to use it. In this clip Griff puts the holly onto the "Castle Door"

  • Glad it is out on DVd, thanks for mentioning this, it has been edidted.

The bit in the original where Alan sells those T-shirts in the pub, the bit where Len (Mel Smith) says "you look a right ol' dogs dinner...what I mean is,,," Been cut out of the film that's the only bit I know about.

  • Must admit I had not noticed that cut. The BBC are always doing this sort of thing when releasing DVD's. Sometimes its because of copyright issues (with music) and other times its because some lines in the script are simply not "PC" anymore. Another culprit thats cut alot is Only Fools and Horses. Its such a shame.

  • This programme IS NOW AVAILABLE on DVD! Its on the special features of disc one of "At last Smith and Jones Vol1" which was released a few days ago. Looks nice and clear compared to the old and tired VHS version.

  • I have watched this every year(at christmas) since 1987! Its tradition in our house now....thanks for posting. Its timeless!

  • Thanks so much for putting this on. Well ahead of its time, well before the royal family, benidorm etc.

  • Just to mention this was a great comedy as well, anyone know where they filmed it?

  • This brings back many happy memories, as far as I remember this was shown in December 1987 and not 1986, I did tape it but lost the tape, I can't believe they did not repeat this on television, they must have used a more professional Camcorder to film this as you would not have achieved this quality with the camcorders they had for sale in the late 80's, anyway thanks for uploading.

  • THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH FOR THE UPLOAD
