Edward Norton Lorenz a pioneer of chaos theory died April 16th 2008. He discovered the strange attractor notion and coined the term butterfly effect.

This is the Lorenz Waterwheel my lab partner and I built for our final physics practical.

  • Is it possible that one cup fills to the top ? I mean if we think about chaos theory and randomization,... what say you?

  • There is a tub that catches the water that drips out of the buckets and a pump that pushes it back up to the top where it pours out. No?

  • it just makes me have to pee

  • Can you tell me how to make this?

I have a Calculus project, and my topic is Chaos Theory, and I would like to use this for my presentation. Would you be able to tell me how to make the model? Please?

  • @bananian

BTW.....this is most definitely a strange attractor system...again great idea

  • This is pretty cool.....I've been studying Lorenz this whole semester.....amazing system of equations he came up with

Anyway, did you guys have the computations in your paper? That would be pretty sweet.....it's sad that on a friday night I am watching a math youtube video....lol

  • it looks more like a sinusoidal pattern though.

  • Great stuff. Thx.

Order arises out of chaos, order is a "higher" form of energy, energy takes the path of least resistance, order is decay... so if ever anything remotely like PM is invented it will be "chaotic".

All you need is a strem and a really mean ferris wheel, like 5000 liter buckets, man, you could run a couple of bicycle dynamos off that :) Just make sure there is no living creature with 5 miles.
