  • Very simple--Follow the money.

Tobacco companies give contributions to the GOP to keep taxation and regulation off their backs, as any industry would.

If you hurt the tobacco companies, you hurt how much they can contribute to the GOP.

The same people who want to ban cigarettes are the same people who want to legalize weed. It has nothing to do with health.

  • What evidence do you have that the legal-weeders are the same as the cig-banners?

  • I strongly agree

  • I do not understand why you are a lefty then. Do you like paying more for your smokes and your ammo?

As a non-drinking smoker it seems to me like everyone drinks, except for me. Still, I am a real liberal, the classical kind of liberal and think people should be able to do whatever the hell they want so long as they do not hurt anyone else.

  • conservatives and liberals are like father and son.

  • Is this for real? Is he reall going t put this propoganda out there?

Smoking was banned because it is delitorious to health. I have the right to eat at a public restaraunt without inhaling toxic fumes that cause a plethera of diseases. The day we researched the adverse effects of tobacco and nicotine was they day that we were destined to make public smoking unethical.

Society has become much better because of the smoking bans. Thank God for them.

  • i love tobacco and firearms

  • 35% federal income tax. Just on income, then I have to rent out the building i own to myself to be able to operate in it and then there are all the little things. It all adds up and they never show the whole numbers. Then theres little district taxes on everything i do/buy/ Etc.

  • 65% in taxes? You must be living in a communist country.

  • The Dems are the one making up bs taxes. I pay maybe... 65% of my income in taxes after all the little stuff adds onto it. Republicans are agaisnt taxes. Then again, if something is considered a taboo, people will always do it.

  • "Follow the money" is a nice little theory.

Dems wanna hurt tobacco companies as much as possible so that they have less to give to the Republican Party.

Given the taxes and given how you can't smoke anywhere anymore, their goal to completely eliminating cigarette smoking is almost complete. I'd say in 100 years, we'll have a virtually smoker-free society.

    Live free or die.

  • Its about money.

Republican's/Democrats are not necessarily about the whole idea of smoking. Its the fact that it generates a lot of money for the government so they can provide for those who do not pay taxes.

It's the same thing with England and taxing sugar/tea. Its about money, if you can see where money goes the rest is explanable. They cancelled prohibition because all of a sudden, people were spending money into other things, into the bootleg booze that wasnt being taxed.

  • You haven't noticed that? I'm a lawyer and I see it all the time.

As for evidence, I don't know of any polls. I think I am onto somethings the pollsters haven't noticed yet.

I look at it this way: If liberals are more likely to be Democrats and conservatives are more likely to Republican, and if Democrats are more likely to impose cig laws and relax weed laws, and Republicans are more likely to oppose cig laws and heighten weed laws, then...

    You got it.
