AC&J Caboose ride!! Part 1

Ride along on a rare caboose ride in an EX N&W caboose on the AC&J RR as we head to the NS interchange at Carson, Ohio. The train crew was engineer Mark, conductor Daryl, brakeman Jim, and student brakeman Tony. The trip started in Jefferson, Ohio. Power was Alco S1 #7371. Taken on May 19th, 2008.

I thought Caboos's (!?), were a thing of the past on American RR's?

They are still used on some railroads that require a lot of switching or have long backup moves. We used the caboose that day due to a long (6 mile) backup move to the Norfolk Southern interchange.

@applecounty just because they dont use cabooses as much as they used too, does mean there all gone
