By the way, 'the' has no meaning by itself.

Many words have no meaning.

Only lexical items as units of language have meaning by themselves.

So your definition of love is 'the description of an emotion'.
And your definition of freedom os 'the state of being freed'.?

You afraid that it goes deep are you? Essentially that is what they are, you can make things seem wonderful and mystical, but at the end of the day, we come up with new reasons and explanations for everything. Emotions are a mixture of electronic and chemical impulses in the brain. Knowing what it is does not make it any less powerful over us, we just understand what it is and when ever anybody comes out and says they "love" something they are and can only be talking about their own emotions.

Fair enough. I understand what your points are, about language and about your definition of atheism. I just don't buy into it. I think we'll probably have to agree to disagree and leave it at that. Thanks for your civility and for the discussion.

You misrepresent my argument by inferring that I am saying atheism has a specific definition. It is an abstract concept which needs a lot of unpacking to get anywhere near a definition.

But it is clear that the concept of atheism comes packaged with all kinds of things. It seems clear from the concordance site that for many people, oppression of religious freedom, mass-violence, dictatorship are part of what atheism means.
