Those kids did have guns and they did start a riot because they were not let into the bowling alley. This could had been prevented.

The riot was started by police due to the arrival of a fire truck. Yes, it could have been prevented if the racist police presence had restrained itself. That didn't happen. I worked at WIS-TV in Columbia at the time of the shooting. I was on duty the night of the shooting. I am from South Carolina. However, I'm ending this dialog with you. You have no respect for the truth or the facts. For anyone reading this exchange, you represent the perfect example of why much of white S.C. remains in denial of what happened in Orangeburg in 1968. It's sad, but you stand as the perfect example of what remains wrong in the state.

Ignorance is a state of being uninformed (lack of knowledge)[1].The word "ignorant" is an adjective describing a person in the state of being unaware and is often used as an insult. "Ignoramus" is commonly used in the UK and Ireland as a name of someone who is overwhelmingly ignorant. It is obvious after reading the posts below who fits the criteria for being ignorant. Im telling you what I know - The NAACP added fire to the flame, the protest got out of hand. Look into other sources besides what you want to believe. Everyone has their own story - Ive heard from both sides, some very similar and some very far fetched.

my dad was one of the officers in the gaurd. he was there. alot of what happened, many are trying to keep covered up. figured racism would be un heard of by now wouldn't you think?
