@hopehunterful but never in the Bible do we find that people should know what exact words to say.If God is genuinely working in someone;s heart, he himself will give them the utterance they need. The job of the evangelist has always been to just point them to Christ, and then the Spirit will do the work if in fact this is a true work of God.I think one of the biggest problems today in churches is that so many believe themselves saved b/c they said a prayer, but they are not really.
@hopehunterful well why do we need to give them a formula to go by? I found that the sinners prayer usually hurts people, not helps them. i said it when it was seven, yet i did not become a Christian until much later. This is about regeneration and seeking God, and i think the sinner's prayer and do much in hindering that
@GodLovesUs100 it should be the same no matter what state you're in. The prayer is a help for the kids if they decide to accept Jesus at home and don't have us with them :)
@hopehunterful is the program the same no matter what place you happen to live in? Because I was over a friend's house and she was showing me some stuff from the CEF program which included a prayer one could pray to receive Jesus.Does training differ between what state you happen to live in?(i'm in CT by the way)...and thanks ....Lord bless you and have a nice day.
@GodLovesUs100 well, we have an 11 day training ( which I just returned from yesterday) in which we learn how to include the points in the Bible lesson smoothly and in a way that the children can easily understand. There are also classes on how to give a clear invitation and how to counsel children so that they understand the Gospel fully. We also don't tell them that they are saved for sure, but tell them that IF they really asked God to do that with all their heart. Everything is evaluated too
@GodLovesUs100 We tell the children about God's love, sin, what Jesus did for them, how to accept Jesus and have a relationship with Him, and tell them how they can grow like God wants them to. It is stressed that the workers aren't just leading the children in a prayer and telling them " You're God's child now" but we are trained to truly lead them to Christ ( I am a 3rd year CEF summer missionary)
Can someone please give me a summary of how this program teaches one to lead a child to salvation? A brother at church told me about it and I am just wondering.I notice in America that our methods of evangelism do not usually produce true converts and I would never want to be responsible before God for assuring a false convert.
Shame on you for telling kids if don't believe your superstitions then bad things will happen to them when they die.
Adults will know you are full of bull but kids don't know any better. That's why you have to "convert" them while they are children.
