Yes; I respect the Romanians, but unfortunately, in spite of their refusal to allow the Soviets to plunder Czechoslovakia, to traverse their forces through Romania, that was not the case in 1956 when the Soviets ran through Hungary-
The Romanian(Communists) with pleasure allowed the Russians to travel through Romania, because the Russians cleverly used the Hungarian-Romanian antagonism to divide these two peoples, whom are both Anti-Communist
@Heightofhate, True, & Moldavians & Romania still wanted their independence form Russia & any other state. Romania also refused to join in the USSR invasion & reoccupation of & quelling of the 1968 Czechoslovak Uprising.
Even Bulgaria, long time friend & ally of Imperial Russia & the USSR has joined NATO & the EU. Does that tell you something?
@christof139 I know what Moldavia is and where it is. I even was there.
Moldavia was passed to the Russian Empire after the Ottoman Empire lost a war against Russians. And Moldavians were more than happy not to live under the Islamic supression and join Orthodox Christian Russia.
BTW, Romania itself gained its independence after the Russo-Turkish war of 1877-1878 when Turks were defeated by Russians once again.
Many countries were born thanks to the Russian victory in that war.
@christof139 The USSR lost around 3 million POWs in the first 10 days of war after the German attack.
The referendum in the Czechoslovakia is a part of it should be annexed by Poles? Are you kidding? Of course, everyone would have said no - that's why Poles signed a treaty with Hitler, just like France and England, in Munich in 1938, and attack their neighbour.
@Heightofhate, Moldavia was independent long ago: Moldavia is a geographic & historical region & former principality in E. Europe between the Eastern Carpathians and the Dniester river. An initially independent & later autonomous state, it existed from the 14thC to 1859, when it united with Wallachia as the basis of the modern Romanian state; at various times, the state included the regions of Bessarabia, all of Bukovina & Pokuttya.
@Heightofhate, Hi, USSR never lost 3-mil. in the 1st week of the war! Yes, Finland was/is tiny nation, & also had a White vs. Red Civil War. Poles were wrong to annex Tschen & the other small area from Czechoslovakia. A plebistice may have been held instead.
@christof139 I totally agree that Stalin was a butcher - brought to power, as all the Bolshevik scum, with the German and English money in 1917.
Finland signed an agreement with Lenin, Stalin and other Bolsheviks in December 1917 betraying Russia. Next time Finns will think twice before treating with Russia's enemies who Bolsheviks were.
The same story was with Romani who annexed Moldova from the Russian Empire.
Poles started their war in 1938 attack Czechoslovakia.
@christof139 Stalin did, but even if he didn't he had no obligation to order to his exhausted troops who had made half a thousand miles fighting through Eastern Poland and the whole Belarus to start storming Warsaw. Polish were also half-prepared for the uprise and started it because the Red Army was approaching - they wanted to liberate themselves on their own.
But they failed - and started asking for help.
Well, either or, Polish boys.
What do you mean under "west went to war in 1939"?
@Heightofhate, Stalin never asked or warned the AK not to revolt. He said nothing. Stalin was glad when the west went to war in 1939 & let the Poles die in Warsaw in 1944 & refused to let Allied planes land in USSR controlled territory unitl it was too late. Stalin was a butcher & caused the Cold War, murdered ~10-million+ USSR citizens, purged the USSR officer corps of ~30,000 good officers due to being fooled by nazi intelligence, attacked, Poland, Rumania, the 3 Baltic states, & Finland.
@christof139 I find it totally right to laugh at agressors who fail in their invasions - as a lesson for the future generations.
Your reason for mocking remain unknown.
Stalin told the Polish "government in exile" not to start the uprise and told them the Red Army wouldn't be able to help enough - the Soviet troops had been moving for 3 consecutive months and made 700 km, they were exhausted.
Poles didn't listen to the Stalin's warnings - it's their mistake.
