This is purely for Real Life Comics fans - Adam from Mythbusters was sportin' a "totally better" shirt in the most recent episode. This is the clip with him wearing it.

  • this car sinks like a lead weight

  • Of course you can't escape a sinking car... Just ask Maryjo Kopechne's family...

  • @Natter91 This was just one of several methods they demonstrated. In the full episode, Mythbusters did the same test as Top Gear, and also demonstrated that you have to hold back your panic and wait for the pressure to equalize, or you will use up your oxygen struggling.

They also talked about tempered glass, and how to break it underwater using a shattering tool (it wont break by pounding it). They did it in a water tank at their shop. They just couldn´t do it in the pool for obvious reasons.

  • breaking the window sounds way too hard

  • 1:09 ITS THE TITANIC!

  • 2 minutes???

  • 3. If the above fail, die a horrible death.

  • The tests proved two things:

    1. Get out fast

    2. If you can't get out fast, calm down, get ready, break the window, and swim up as fast as you can

  • Top Gear went out to test the idea of letting your car equalize before opening the door. They performed an accurate, realistic test (apart from the divers).

In this test, they said you should break the window. But they didn't do that. How can they recommend an action they did not test? That is the same as those who tell you to let it equalize and settle to the bottom.

Whatever good advice you can draw from the test (which comes entirely from Top Gear anyway), *it was not a valid test*.
