Stabilization of the LPHC ("CORE") must first be present before moving forward with advanced strengthening exercises. Proper core stabilization demonstrates local muscular system (Ex: pelvic floor muscles, transverse abdominus, multifidus, internal oblique, diaphram) control and influences the efficiency of movement patterns (muscle firing patterns). This increases neuromuscular control as well as decreasing the overall risk of injury.

A Floor Bridge demostrates good local muscular system control. The stationary legs should be slightly past 90 degrees and toes up to influence driving through the glutes. Contract the glutes when moving into the bridge position (the glutes should be the primary mover of hip extension). The upper body should be striaight, palms up, shoudler blades together, to influence proper spine alignment and muscle firing patterns/movement efficiency.
