Oct 29, 2009, during the evening rush hour, Trumpet man Orbert Davis fronted a jazz quintet, including Ari Brown on sax, in a one-hour unannounced concert in the 95th Street station of the Chicago Transit Authority's Red Line rapid transit system. Rush hour commuters stopped, danced, swayed, popped fingers, tapped their feet and grooved. Kudos to the Driehaus Foundation (shout out to Richard Cahan), Chicago Jazz Philharmonic (Mark Ingram, Managing/Producing Director) and the Chicago Transit Authority.

I took one semester at UIC where Orbert Davis taught. I've never seen a man who loves what he does as much as him. The love of music and the desire to pass along the tips/tricks to be a musical success was why I loved it. Too bad I'm not there anymore.
