The ATHLETE (All-Terrain Hex-Legged Extra-Terrestrial Explorer) is capable of rolling over undulating moon-like terrain and "walking" over extremely rough or steep terrain on the surface of the moon. Check out this and more at http://www.nasa.gov/exploration/home/analogs.html.

  • Now this is probably a totally dumb question, but what kind of power source does it use?

    It doesn't seem have a large enough surface area to bolt on a practical amount of PV cells, and batteries are only a temporary solution

  • brilliant design, needs some dedicated crab arms though (To complete the look, so we can call it the crab)
