30 June, Papua New Guinea
Residents of Madang and students of Divine Word University led by example on the 30th of June 2010 when they staged a peaceful protest against changes to the Environment Act which limits the ability of landowners to voice concerns over resource projects. The protest went ahead despite threats by the Justice Minister, Ano Pala, that protestors would be held in contempt of court.
