Paul the octopus, known for having predicting powers for football games, was
recently featured in a Mobily (telecom company) print advertisement in the
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The ad showed Paul choosing Mobily being his choice
over the competition (their brand colors were used in a subtle way on sim cards).
At first the ad created buzz, then shortly a few days later, it started a controversy
for running a competitive advetisement (considered illegal in the Kingdom).
Mobily was forced to rerun their ad (shown here) without the competitors colors.
Late last night, we received information that Paul the octopus was found dead.
After preliminary investigations it appears that during the photography session,
Paul was not cooperating and repeatedly kept moving away from the Mobily box,
angering the photographer and the Mobily team present at the photography shoot.
Photos of Paul's decapitation were not released considering their graphic nature.
