With a hatchet and a saw you can get for free, a Christmas tree for you and me.
They grow wild along the street, such a pretty sight. For best results, stoop real
Low. Cut them fast at night.
Chorus:
Its a West Virginia credit card. Its an I dont I-owe-you. With a hatchet
And a saw, an avoidance of the law, you can I-dont-I-owe-too.
With a loaf of bread and a musky net you can eat free goose or duck. They cruise
the river waitin for bread giver. Thats me in my old truck. On Christmas eve
Roll up my sleeve with a napkin in my lap. Ill eat free bird until I burp to a free bird,
To a free bird.to a free bird Christmas nap.
REPEAT CHORUS
With a five gallon can and a careful man, ten feet of rubber hose, you can siphon off that
Golden stuff that makes ol truck truck go. Put that rubber hose in a box. Tie a ribbon
on it. Put it beneath your Christmas tree. Its a mountain momma Christmas gift.
REPEAT CHORUS
Edward Isac Edward we nick named E. I. E. He grew some corn I stole from him. He
Pulled a gun on me. I tried to use my I Dont Owe. He wouldnt let it go.
He cocked that pistol and I said, Its E. I. E I Owe.
Im used to getting things for free but E. I. E I Owe.
He has no Christmas gifts for me, just E. I. E. I. Owe. (CHORUS AND END SONG)
Chuck, what a great song and great theme. My family and I travelled through WV on the way to Myrtle Beach. What a wonderful state and I finnaly saw the area featured in the Fisher Quartet.

@MrWholeman hi martin, thanks for the nice visit. when i was in the air force i lived 110 miles inland from myrtle beach. we spent three day weekends there all summer. slept in a tent in the camp ground, brought our vespa motor scooter in the back of the station wagon, and a guy sold hot fresh glazed doughnuts tent to tent every morning. it was, in a word, wonderful. peace, chuck.
