Claiming like Alex Jones suggested here that for foreign banks to loan us 12 times our GDP to make us bankrupt is somehow in their best financial interest is simply idiotic.

What happened here was no foreign plot, no conspiracy, only our idiot politicians and laughable nationalistic pride that created this mess, and now we are trying to blame someone else, which only goes to show we have nothing learned, makes me sick.

People here look everywhere for a scapegoat except to ourselves. Blaming EU regulations is a fucking joke, the FME and Central bank had all the tools to stop them from expanding to EU countries, 30 other european countries were working with those same EU rules, and their government didnt allow their banks to invade other people banking sectors and drain the money from there.

There was no foreign plot or conspiracy here, foreign banks were IN FACT WARNING US what was happening, but Icelanders became angry with them for that alone, claiming they didnt understand the icelandic model. The government went oversees to praise the banks and trying to convince their foreign victims that they were sound banks.

They allowed the banks to grow to 12 times the GDP, which is a crazy size and far far far beoynd what the government would be able to back up if they went bust.

Im from Iceland and this is total distortion of what happened. Firstly it is ridicilious to portray Icelanders as some kind of victims here after allowing our banks(notice our banks, not goldman sachs or deutsche bank or any other banks) to go to other countries and rob people of their life savings, this money was then sucked out of the foreign branches and to the Iceland motherbanks where they were channelled to the owner of the banks for the most parts as loans.
