Over the past few days, there have been many protests and events to mark the Nakba.

The memory of the flight of those Palestinian refugees has also been captured in a haunting art installation that will be displayed in Jerusalem.

It has taken almost a year to put together and is the work of a Scottish artist and thousands of young Palestinians.

It makes for one of the most evocative commemorations of this collective tragedy.

Al Jazeera's Jacky Rowland reports.

  • What nonsense! Even Israel's own historians admit Nakba was created by massacres and expulsion of the native people like happened with the expulsion of Native Americans from the plains of the United States. Read the works of Illan Pappe, Benny Morris and Tom Segev all Israelis.

  • If criticising Israel's unethical, child murdering policies makes me an anti-semite THEN IM FUCKING PROUD TO BE ONE!!!

  • every day this way.

"It's better to receive a sharp word in reproof than the end of a stick"

Shake yourselves awake, you've gone insane with a little bit of power in a very short time. Try to remember that in no way shape or form has this been "|srae| vs the World", the superpowers of the world have been holding your hands the entire time. Take a glance at a map, strange coincidence where all USA/UK wars for the last few decades, especially the last two "happen" to end up eh?

    Shalom.

  • wheels off and Mommy international removes her teet, end the allowance checks, stop subduing the Arab world surrounding your wee li'l strip o' land.

Every time you talk like this you cause the collective world to scratch their heads at such blind arrogance, is your memory that short? Those same Arabs saw you crying & hungry at their doorsteps and invited you in with open arms. It doesn't get any more hypocritical or cruelly ironic than this. You're alienating yourself from the worlds Jews eve

  • you to a 40 years circular parade outside the "land of milk and honey" (Same as always, taking what others have built up then cursing others for merely wanting their own possessions). Same god who had the romans raze the place to the ground.

I'd remember my history and have a bit of humility, you're notorious the world over as crying little girlies and parasites who scream bloody murder when forced to work, even work a normal woman does daily.

Soon enough daddy USA will take off the training

  • @alexplus20 I seem to remember a place called Canaan & a group of people, this may sound familiar... Called the Philistines living about that region while you crybabies were wandering the desert of sinai, pissing and moaning, whining and crying your eyes out to Moshe because you had to.... "Walk"

And 'only' got to eat Manna from Heaven... In fact it was due to this whiny ceybaby attitude, along with falling back into mass orgies, child mutilation and sacrifice, that caused your god to curse

  • sorry but Arabs came and conquered the Jewish land for themselves. They have no right to any land. Stop crying and go back to any of the other 40 something islamic Hell holes that you have also stolen through force from the native peoples. Arabs and Muslims have no right to any land and should stop crying when the jews retaliate to their constant barrage of rockets.

  • Ask any Palestinian about the ‘Nakba’. This new expression has become part of the glue to the Palestinian narrative. The Nakba, or disaster, is how the Arab world refers to the establishment of the Jewish State of Israel on 15th May, 1948. It only found expression in recent years as a rewriting of a false Palestinian history. It is a historic mistake that must be rectified. It is as if they controlled the land before 1948 and deserve to have it back. Untrue!

  • @petersz98 Indeed, see Schlomo Ben Ami, Illlan Pepe and others and others.

  • Wonderful!

  • If the Palestinians didn't glorify violence, they'd be celebrating their 62nd anniversary as a nation, side-by-side with Israel, instead of whining about their stupid NAKBA.

Yes, the Palestinians ARE a catastrophe!!!!!

  • @noora1998 Said: "johnknoefler, You are a stubborn ass" Thanks for the compliment. That is my best attribute. Also I notice you did not look up the british mandate maps or notice that there was no Palistine under ottoman rule. And the early palistinians were Jewish. It was not until after '48 that arabs refered to themselves as such. Tell you what, When all muslims and arabs leave Britain, USA, France, Canada, Sweden, Ireland, Iran, Lebenon, Then all Jews will leave JEWRUSALEM

    Shalom.
