A Gift of a Thistle on tin whistle and guitar.

Since I don't have a low whistle (but love the sound) I wanted to see what it would be like if I played the high D and then lower the sound one octave in Audacity (audio editing software) --Thank you o00DonnyEnglish00o for this idea.
But I got so caught op in the music, one thing led to another and before I knew it I had played all the parts including the guitar.

Music by James Horner from the movie Braveheart. This movie and the music really has a place in my heart.

--------------------
Some explanation for those curious. The first thing you hear is the high D lowered one octave. Then the electric guitar comes in, and then the high D unchanged.

PS: Sorry guys, I don't have sheet music.

  • Great playing. It sounds just like the soundtrack, and I am not a noob at Irish music.

You really don't need sheetmusic though, people can just pick it by ear.

  • @UberDeathTurtle Thanks! Yes, I would strongly encourage people to try to find the notes themselves by listening to the music. After all this is something that, at least for most people, requires practice and really is a part of the process and part of the joy. But as I said this is usually something that requires practice, and for people who are not at a point yet where they can pick the notes themselves but are dying to play this music I wrote out the tab. =)

  • @o0dominic0o Oh wait, I didn't write out the tab for this one... doh

  • Im english by birth and have a well known english name but i love the movie Braveheart one of the best. Tho not very accurate its prob the most accurate you will come to a movie thats portrays that time era in scotland.

  • @RonButterfieldjr Can't tell you if it's accurate, I wasn't there =P But the movie made a lasting impression on me...

  • clarke original is the best whistle

but ye have to blow a lot if its not tweaked

  • @celtic4ever18 yeah, that's true. It takes quite a bit of air. But perhaps that adds to the warm breathy sound =).
