Just after the war, in the 1940s, I lived in the Kelvindale area of Glasgow's West End - close to the river Kelvin. This little composition is in folk mode and is called "Kelvin Side".

I'm experimenting here with the "Third-Hand Universal Guitar Capo" - which allows individual strings to be capo'ed. I've stopped the 5th, 4th and 3rd strings at the 2nd fret - which gives an Esus tuning. The melody is created using a lot of hammering-on and pulling-off of the strings.

  • woah thats a good cover!!! paramore do it better though!

  • Strange - it's my own composition! ... "-)

  • That was fantastic mate. I actually stay in Kelvindale so if you're ever up this way again let me know and I'll buy you a pint! Might even give you a go on my guitars as well :D

  • I'll take you up on that! I went back to Glasgow a few years ago, after leaving there in 1951, and walked round the West End - had a great time! :-) Will

  • i love your stuff its different than most other peoples plus your vid quality is excellent too.any way great job and keep em comin!

  • Thanks. I only use a fairly cheap DVD camcorder, but the sound is recorded separately on a good 8-track and mixed together with the video using iMovie software. And I always shoot the playing close to a window to get good natural light. Simple things can make a difference! :-) Will
