This Mohawk Innovative Technology, Inc. (MiTi) video shows a partially assembled meso-scopic sized portable power generator with a centrifugal compressor and radial inflow turbine. The generator is in the center. When operating the shaft is levitated on a film of air by the MiTi compliant foil gas bearings. For this video speed was about 200,000 rpm, when assembled it has been operated to over 500,000 rpm. Once completed this machine will be able to produce 500 Watts of power.

  • 500W???? how much weight the shaft?, what company manufactures this?, and why i have no one to recharge batteries of the car.

  • The shaft weighs around 15-20 grams. It is not manufactured yet but is under development. Should be a product in a couple of years

  • The best part of this video was the 14 seconds of Peruvian panflute music

  • You mentioned "compressor." Is this designed to be a gas turbine with a combustion chamber that has been removed for the video, or is it designed to run on compressed air, like in the vid?

  • I can believe that the turbine might be able to perform energy conversion at 500 Watts but I find it hard to believe that an electric generator that small can do 500 Watts continuous. Am I missing something?

  • nice lill turbo........whats it for????

  • sounds like im tuning my computer

  • nice impellers

  • Good work towards the noisless RC model airplane

  • @jetsinhd its more like at 20 seconds thats better music i can relate to

  • now touch it

  • @Wiegieboard Haha, exactly what I thought when I heard it spin up! I began feeling my cavities...

  • Dude, it sounds like a radio when starting up

  • Hurry up guys! I Kayak and also spend alot of time running about the Australian bush on foot.....this little beauty would be indispensable!!! At the moment the only real way I can recharge my laptop etc while I'm out in the field, is with solar cells. Either that or take extra batteries and leave a genny at a basecamp (I go out alone and I'm a minimalist when it comes to adventuring, less I have to carry on my back or in my Kayak...the better). I LUV THIS!! WHERE/WHEN CAN I BUY ONE?
