Just a quick video of my new Scotts Classic 20" reel mower. Purchased from Amazon for $120, I'll be using it this season. I talk a bit about what I learned buying it. Note the last part of the video, the reel turns so fast it synchronizes with the camera and looks like it's not moving when it actually is spinning quite fast.

I needed to purchase a push mower that either side discharged or mulched, since my current 20" push mower only bags. I hand mow my lawn for the exercise, perhaps this reel mower will fill the bill, only time will tell.

  • Will this mower work well in wet grass?

  • @tcthomas22 Yes, it works well in wet grass. The grass clippings will stick more to the mower, so you will need clean it afterwards.

  • Great little mower, easy to use but the handle leaves much to be desired.

  • I agree...I welded the entire handle together...works well like that. :)

  • Great video, I love my Scotts mower. By the way, your grass looks pretty beat up!

  • Yes...that was very early spring before the lawn had woken up from a long winter's nap.

  • This guy only pays for his once. You pay for yours every time you put gas+oil in it. Lots of people are buying this type also for the fact of no pollution. I have a 10 foot gang reel mower I pull behind my lawn mower. What use to take me 4 hours now takes 1. Not to mention the gas I saved and life of the mower. Peace.

  • The best part is that you aren't burning expensive gas while mowing. Gas mowers actually suck up quite a bit of gas and produce a nasty oil/gas smell.

  • I don't see it cuttin' a damn thing!

  • good explanation

  • 2 words! Lawn Sprinkler!! JK! Actually really. Cool. I might get one:)

  • Wow, that goes eats through your dead lawn with ease.

  • I bought one, but it's a WhisperCut 18.

  • @baylorz28 I must have lucked out then. I bought a gas mower in 1999 and still use it today. I didn't change the spark plug or the air filter, nor did I sharpen or replace the blade, for the first 9 years. I have no idea how the thing has kept running, but running it has. Don't get me wrong; I recently bought a reel mower and enjoy it more than the gas mower.

  • @pandurate i would agree with u....too bad gas mowers break down so much...dirty oil/ gas, air filters, spark plugs, etc. mine's pain in the avjuvss

  • Thanks for the information...I learned a lot. I just ordered one of these today and am looking forward to it.
