btw kill the merchant he drops humanity the residence key and an uchigatana just make sure you got every thing you need from him

The number In the top left is humanity, use humanity in your inventory and the number will go up. If you have a humanity, u can use it at a bonfire to reverse hollowing (or give life to yourself) and you prolly know how to obtain humanity.
