I don't think its a dumb argument. People will always have guns, even if they made all guns illegal and took all the guns away from police officers, Illicit guns would still be on the street. So criminals, who don't care about he law, would still have guns but responsible owners wouldn't. Seems a bit silly to me. Furthermore, no excuses in needed to own a gun, its an inherent right of all citizens of the US. That's like saying you need an excuse to speak freely.

People always try to come up with excuse for owning guns. I am going to help you make new ones:

"Gun don't kill people"

"bullet don't kill people"

"trigger don't kill people"

"that muscle in your finger killed someone, not the gunner"

But if gun don't kill people, why do people buy gun then? If it is for defending, you can buy a baseball bat and it will do the same job... since "both don't kill people". That argument is so dumb. It is just an excuse for whatever mistake could happen in life.

Why because a gun can kill a lot of people? So can a car slamming into a group of people but we don't ban those. So can a can of gas spilled around an apartment building, but we don't ban those. The point is, if guns aren't around and a psycho wants to kill a large group of people, they'll just kill them using some other method.
