@Arkelath How lovely to read this ;-) I can say that of the dozens of harps I've played, the Pixie - without semitone levers and preferably the model that doesn't stand on its own! - is the most responsive, stable, easy to tune ... and the sound certainly suits me and my surroungings whether church, concert hall or living room; of course it has no normal bass range, that's partly why it's so responsive, but you can either add another instrument or play a music that doesn't need a normal bass!

This is so helpful. i was wondering, what harp would you suggest a beginner to start on. i have a lot of music theory, but never have played the harp. what would you recommend i start with?

it's personal, of course: but the Pixie from Mid East Mfg is my all-time favourite - expressive, responsive, versatile, intimate: Lily and Baby are smaller & cheaper, but more limited; Heather & Minstrel give more possibilities but not many & they are less responsive; for a proper bass register you need Minstrel or bigger, but that's a real price jump: the semitone levers take away more than they give: my other YouTube videos show a dozen different instruments
