Goldie Hawn describes the work of the Hawn Foundation on Giving, a show profiling innovative philanthropists. The Hawn Foundation is dedicated to equipping children with the social and emotional skills they need to lead smarter, healthier, and happier lives. The Hawn Foundation, in collaboration with neuroscientists, behavioral psychologists, educators, and leading researchers in the field of social and emotional learning, has developed MindUP™, an evidenced based curriculum for elementary and middle school children.

Research studies have shown that children who participate in MindUP™ not only learn more effectively, they also display more eagerness, confidence, empathy and joy. MindUP™ has also decreased the reported behavioral problems and aggression among students.

  • @krugv1 wow, thanks for the nice reply!

  • @ladyskywatcher don't EVER again say you are a "lowly" sub and secretary! I work at a college as a professor and I could not do my job without our support staff! They are diamonds in the rough.

  • THIS IS WONDERFUL! She's a lovely person in so many ways. I used to tell my kids to lay down and "go think" as part of their chore list. This is so necessary in today's world. I hope everyone spreads the word and all school adopt Mind Up.

  • Speaking of psychology, if Goldie really was a psychologist, don't you think she would do a much better job than most therapists out there and give you good advice that would be well worth your money? I would.

  • Of course, Goldie is a hot movie star. But judging from this, I think that if Goldie stayed in college, she missed her calling. She would have made a great psychologist.

  • What an awesome person. When others lunch, Goldie rocks. solehous

  • Anyone doing this in the UK? I would be very interested in finding out more. It would be so good for the kids I work with. John (Mental Health Teacher)

  • Working in a school environment, as a "lowly" sub and secretary, I have seen this first hand and the treatment given "special" children has been extremely lacking. I will be forwarding this to my past associates (I quit because this was so disturbing to me) and it is my hope that someone will watch and it will sink in and they will pay it forward!

  • Goldie is so great!
