* The Golden Mile - Lyrics *
Had a vision on the Golden Mile
Turned my head and walked away
Sun was shinin' and it
caught my eyes
Damn near blew me away
Sometimes I look back
And I think to myself
Had some friends there
And they lost their way
It's funny when I
recall their smiles
I swear to God I
didn't know them all
But it seemed so for a while
And sometimes I look back
And I cry to myself
I can feel I can feel the
world turnin' round
Yeah
Feel it turn
I can feel the world
turnin' round on me
Yeah
I can feel the world turnin' round
Oh
Going back there to the Golden Mile
It's where I belong anyway
If you should see me stay out my way
I'm going back to find
my golden days
I can feel
I can feel the world
turnin' round on me
Yeah
I can feel the world spinnin' round
Yeah
I can feel the world
spinnin' round on me
Spinning 'round
Turnin' 'round
Spinning 'round
Turnin' 'round
GOD PLEASE PUT THEM BACK IN THE STUDIO!

Again, great job Snowchild! The early pics of John are great, too.

John's done OK. He got a gold disc for 'Missing You' and another for ' When I See You Smile' when he in Bad English. What is done is done and not be undone - He's still out there playing live all over USA and Europe. He still looks and souds good - slim, own hair, teeth and above all a long forty year career. I recently saw him when he played at our home town.......... And what does miss sweaty have to show for her existence on this planet - with a name like that, I dread to think!

This could have been one of the greatest bands of all time and still filling big venues today. Awesome, mystical but naive creativity - if it's not broken , why fix it by changing the members just after ' lsn't It Time' was such a tremendous record? Bad career move. Waite has such vocal potential in the early Babys tracks. Some great guitar playing too.

There is an enigmatic secret about this track that no one other than me and John know. He once told me it was based on a shared experience. That is all I will ever say, so don't ask me. This is The Babys at their best. in my opinion. Great lyrics, vocals, keyboads and an ethereal aura of true artistry. Thanks for posting this Snowchild, it brings back forgotten memories of my life at the time I first heard it.. Thanks again for the pics of me and John smoking etc. Jo

Thank you yet again, SNOWCHILD, for another wonderful upload of one of my absolute favourite tracks of The 'original' Babys. I remember recording this track with much amazement as it came together.I think it displays some of John's most sincere lyrics and shows off the original band at it's very best.
At first I was confused by the photos of John's earlier musical beginnings as I didn't quite recognise these musicians. However, I think it was excellent of you to find & post these photos.
MC.

This is unbelievable! I am in some of the pics you posted here. The telecaster (where we are all smoking) is the very same one I still own and have left to John in my last will and testament!
