i did this in science and it was AWESOME :D haha im a nerd

@bigbirdcrap Hydrogen gas. It is the bi-Product of the aluminum reacting with water to form Al3+ Which is what bonds with the CuCl To form Copper.

what are the bubbles made of? vaporized water?

Thank you SOO much for the help =))

Wow thanks for the quick response!
Sorry if my question wasn't clear, but i was wondering how long this would taken given i could keep adding Al whenever it runs out.
Thanks.

Provided, of course, that CuCl2 is the limiting reagent =)

Hi, I was wondering how long it would take for this reaction to complete = no more blue colour?
Would the time needed for this reaction decrease if the molarity was reduced to lets say 1g Al /100ml of H20 (M=.37)?

I think that the Al would run out first in this experiment.
The time depends on which reactant is limiting - if it was CuCl2 then lowering the molarity would make it run out faster.

I'm thinking of doing an experiment with this reaction regarding Percent Yield and i wanted to make sure that each trial doesn't take too long because i need a lot of data points.

I think each trial would take maybe half an hour or less, if you were careful to not use too much CuCl2.

Do you know where they got it?
