03.08.10--Senate Finance Committee Chair Chuck Colgan (D-Prince William) discussed the status of public education funding in the ongoing budget negotiations. The House and Senate budgets are vastly different on public education--with the House making $679 million in cuts, many of which are permanent, and the Senate recommending only $133 million, all temporary.
If enacted, the House budget would put thousands more teachers out of work and severely damage Virginia's high quality public schools.
