A little reworked version of the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation opening titles, now with the Taggart theme "No Mean City" by Maggie Bell...

Just a little bit of fun, but a cool video nonetheless...

Taggart is the world's longest running police/crime drama (1st episode was in 1983). For those who don't know, the show is based in Glasgow (Scotland), and is a drama about the homicide department of Glasgow's Maryhill police force. Check it out.

  • naebody move! theres been another murrrrder!

  • I like CSI but it isn't in the same league as Taggart. The song seems dated because it hasn't been used as theme at the end of Taggart since 2000.

The difference between Marg Helenberger and Blythe Duff couldn't be starker and the writing of the Taggart script is a million miles a head of CSI too.

  • CSI has nothing on Taggart.

  • Excellent score for 'CSI'. It really fits! Gritty & funky, bit like its own theme. Maybe s/o should suggest this to the producers as an alternative! ,-)

SImply love 'Taggart'; have watched it for years. But *don't* get me started on the miniscule 1-hour 'snippets' to which the producers have opted to shrink the episodes! :-(

BTW, I watched CSI for 10 years - & loved the groovy theme song - before my OH told me it was a BRITISH band - & 'The Who' no less! - singing the theme song! :-D

  • I think the new Taggart theme is totally crap compared to this one, Don't even know why Mike Moran stopped doing the background music either.

  • @alecahauf I don't think I'd go as far to say the CSI shows are totally unrealistic. ALL the lab equipment is real, they base a lot of the episodes on FACT and actors do work alongside real CSIs. The make-up and stunts are also very realistic. I watched Taggart on Sunday and most of the punches were miles off and a guy's face was almost orange. He was supposed to have blood and bruising on his face. I didn't buy those scenes at all.

  • Taggart is much superior in that it better written, produced, directed and acted on a much lower budget. The show is likle for real unlike the US crime shows where they run about shooting as if that's how the law is enforced in the US. Taggart has none of this unreality about it though i confess the latest series has slipped a bit.

  • I didn't think this would work before I played it, but you really pulled it off. I love it when someone gets creative like this. To compare CSI and Taggart is like comparing an apple to a banana. Both are shows revolving around crime, but the settings are completely different, one focuses on forensics, the other on police work. There are also different audiences to cater to and both have their own unique styles when it comes to things like editing, scoring and producing. Just enjoy both!!

  • Not bad.

    Gives Two Ideas watching this.

    One Good (Taggart: The Movie)

    One Bad (Taggart: American Remake)

  • nice editing

  • Love this. Well done!
