wolverine is Immortal, thats why hes the most famous x-men.

Cyclops was a wreck, who never shaves, because Jean was missing, and Storm had moved back to Africa. Wolverine was the next possible option. I think he was he was the best choice because of his military experience, and leadership skills. :D Plus, he has years of experience. XD

Wolverine got put in charge 'cause he's the only one with the skill and strength. Everyone else is still traumatized after the loss of Jean Grey and Professor X. Plus he's fought in WW2 with Captain America
