Agribusiness corporations have long fought for cheap farm prices, hurting farmers in the US and in Least Developed Countries. They've won policies and programs through which the US exports farm commodities (ie. corn, wheat, rice, cotton, soybeans) at below our cost of production, while taxpayers pay large farm subsidies. These corporations should pay farm prices so farm subsidies are not needed. The changes needed are NOT reductions or elimination of subsidies alone. To do that is to do just what agribusiness grain buyers want (to blame farmers for subsidies that compensate for failed policies, rather than exposing the corporations and making them pay fair farm prices)!
