  • @RvLeshrac The only reason that HIV prevention wasnt first is because of the amount of efforts on behalf of the wider world in tackling the issue already. the fight with HIV is on and the world is winning. So other problems need our attention first. I thought that his talk about micronuturients was invaluable, it was in stark contrast to the kind of big spending stupidity that we see from governments today.

  • Have you even read their analysis?

The question they try to answer is how can we spend money the most efficiently, and they do that very well.

  • If you disagree with the position of something, you need to suggest a solution that would be less costly than the higher-ranked items.

While HIV treatment can save people today, they will likely be dead long before we can cure it. Instead, money has been focused on preventing it - if no one has it, we don't need to spend such a high amount on treatment.

Peace would cost more, in lives and money, than the entire world could ever muster. We would then ignore every other problem on the list.

  • Did you watch the video? He says that HIV/AIDS was #1 in the 2004 list, but is moved to #19 in this list because of how much money is currently going into work HIV/AIDS. They don't feel that the money they are spending would be best spent on supplementing the already hefty amount spent on HIV/AIDS.

  • It is a very short sighted view. They made a wrong list of priorities. One should not look at these problems as isolated events. Many are connected in a special structure. To put environmental problems, peace and HIV problems so low is denying their overall influence. By HIV e.g. millions of African children become orphans. And with no care they can become victims of bad people, who recruit child soldiers or terrorists.
