  • Great clip. I was at this show. The whole concert is on DVD now, gladly since my VHS copy crapped the bed years ago.

  • I was at this show too. This was great rock n roll in downtown Brooklyn.

    Pete also performed Psychoderelict.

  • @skidrow75 I believe it's a comment on how the style of the UK punks at the time this was written looked very similar to the US gay liberation movement. I think he makes a point of not denying or confirming his sexuality cause he feels it shouldn't matter.

  • Totally excellent!!!!!!

  • If Elvis is the king and I#m the kaiser - Pete is the God of RnR

  • Is this his "coming out" song?

Great song but the lyrics are haunting.

  • EPIC!

  • That's a very insightful remark.

The Who had the dynamic range of a Luftwaffe Raid over Coventry with the all the machismo to match. I can understand why Daltry didn't want to sing these lyrics.

Listening to Pete's two Scoop albums was a real eye-opener for me in terms of his song writing abilities, many of his songs as recorded by The Who totally fail in retrospect when you listen to Townshend's original demos , especially Behind Blue Eyes.

  • cant believe this got rejected as a who song, love this song, love pete townshend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Didn't he actually claim to be bi in an interview, several years ago? Maybe he just meant that he had indulged himself in some Rock God pleasures, back when.

  • The song was a passing glance at punk rock.

Discussing the male personae in any sense always carries with it homoerotic overtones. As Camille Paglia states, all men are less, not only smaller physically but sensually (spent) after sex.

As to Petes sexuality or more importantly, his talent as a songwriter, his greatness comes from a sense of androgyny, or, a blend of gender personae. He is not Gay.

  • he is gay who cares a great talent
