Spider Robot!

Domo arigato, Spider Roboto.
So for the third (and hopefully final) time, I am uploading the CG work I did on a spider robot featured in Chuck Season 4 Episode 13: Chuck vs the Push Mix.

Hello, are you using only deformers to animate the legs? I'm quite interested by your technics. Thank you for the answer :)

@OfficialEthern1ty For the close ups, it was a rig that another artist made using long IK chains. For the far away shots, I made an odd right that's difficult to explain. The legs were basically segmented tubes. At each segment (4 per leg), I placed a bone to control it. This gives it a lot of freedom in movement, but doesn't prevent stretching, so you have to be careful when animating. I rigged it like this to work around the fact that Lightwave doesn't have satisfactory Spline Deformers.
