I noticed the lack of belts and spinning fan, too. A coworker sold a '65 389 to me after he found out that my Firebird came with a 301. A PO of my 'Bird put a 301 in it to get it rolling again so he could sell it. When the 301 took a crap, I put the 389 in with the help of a friend and never looked back.
no belts on it. these are great engines, change the oil every 3k and they will last you a loong time. They were built when people actually gave a shit how cars were built. Much better than the tonka toy peices of shit on the road today.
