Burlington is a college town full of followers. Everyone that moves here becomes a "hippie" (without actually caring about or doing anything beyond the legally mandatory recycling). Its really stupid. People from any mildly mountainous area in Vermont calls everyone else in the world, regardless of the geography of the area they are from, "flatlanders". Which is really just the Vermonters' way of saying "We're ignorant and stupid"
