This is Fox's story so far. Born 25 Aug 2008 he was born with a large birthmark. We have made this film for any parents, nursing and medical professionals to view. This is by no means a comprehensive version of events or treatments, please visit www.foxsbirthmark.blogspot.com for that. If you're a parent who needs help, fight for it. Get a second opinion if you feel it is necessary. Not all birthmarks need medical intervention but in Fox's case, he did. No, its not on his face/neck where generally these will cause the most problems but it is large and in a really awkward place. Thank you for taking the time to view this film. If you need advice in the UK visit - www.birthmarksupportgroup.org.uk

  • Does this have any effects to the future life?

  • @tore1992 other than extensive scarring (both to the haemangioma and where the skin was taken from his thigh) he should be fine. The grafted area may need releasing as he grows. We don't really know what it will leave until hes much older so I guess then it would be up to him if he would like any kind of cosmetic treatment. Hes currently 21 months and a million times better than he was this time last year. Thank you for veiwing his film :o)

  • My daughter has superficial hemangiomas on her face(meaning the same type of red hemangioma as your son has)she also have a cavernous hemangioma on her face & it was at one time the size of a baseball & the doctors told us without her trial drug(propanalol) that her face would have extended out about 6 inches by now. due to her drug her face has shrunk to almost normal.I would like to get her red hemangiomas removed from her face, they are small because the drug stopped them from growing.advice?

  • @AvaLaurellesMommy if she is still young and they haven't ulcerated, they will very probably disappear leaving just a slightly lighter, sofer area of skin.

  • my son and i just watched this video on fox! and all he could say is "mom i really want to help that cute baby i hope he gets better" broke my heart seeing him hurt like that! my prayers will be with you! he's a strong boy :)

  • such a sad story, Fox is the strongest, bravest, happiest baby ive ever seen in these conditions

God bless him, i hope he gets better very soon :)

  • god bless you, i cant stand when they have the danger when their young.

  • This clip is very sad my son has a hemangioma on his facw but after looking on here what I thought was huge on my 13 week old son is actually tiny, He is now on propanalol this is only the first week so fingers crossed it will stop it from growing any further and make it disappear your little one went through so much as I am sure that you and your husband did also people often forget that the parents suffer too its so hard watching such a gorgeous baby go thru so much I wish you all the luck

  • Maybe you already thought of this but ,

Why couldnt they cut the whole birthmark away and replace the skin with donorskin?

  • I don't know what to say .. but i almost cried.. I mean . why?? i can't understand? why does it have to happen to the kids. I can't imagine how much he did suffer from this .. I'll pray for this kid.. also for all those kids who have the same disease..

It's so sad ... hope he will have a good future....

  • Hemangioma is very tough to live with, I have had it since i was six weeks old, i am now 15 years old. I have had four plus surgeries in order to remove it, but it keeps coming back. Not everyone ends up being okay. I have had many skin grafts, and i am still in a ton of pain everyday, i have virtual no usuage of my left hand. And everyday i am faced with looks and whispers of people wondering why i can lay my arm straight. For those of you who are lucky enough to lead a normal life, congrats.<3

  • did he die?
